Menu Change for Fall and Winter

D.O.C. is excited to announce a new menu change for fall and winter. As of Tuesday October 21sh, we will only be offering our a la carte menu on weekdays (Tuesday through Thursday) for parties of 5 or less. However for parties of six or more on those same weekdays we will continue to exclusively offer our Chef’s tasting menu. Plated family-style in six courses it is a real Italian family feast and the best way for us to accommodate large parties in our small dining room. Worry not! DOC will continue to only offer the Chef’s Tasting Menu on Fridays and Saturdays. We will gear up throughout the week to offer you the menu’s highlights in six courses during two seatings: the first at 6 p.m. and the second at 8:30 p.m. As always we are happy to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions to the best of our abilities. We will continue to offer wine pairings regardless of the night of the week.

Here is a detailed dining schedule:

Tuesday – Thursday:
6 – 9pm for parties of 5 or less (a la carte only)
6 – 8:30 for parties of 6 or more (tasting menu only)

Friday & Saturday:
6 & 8:30 seatings for all parties (tasting menu only)

D.O.C. has a retail wine program as well. If you are looking to build up your cellar, select wines for a dinner you are hosting, or just looking for a delicious bottle to sip on at home–swing on by and we would be happy to help you pick out some great wines. We also offer a 10% discount on cases.

The holidays will shortly be upon us. D.O.C. is the perpect place to host an intimate and delicious dinner party. We can seat up to thirty guests for your business meeting, rehearsal dinner, or holiday party. We offer many packages to suit your needs. Give us a call or send us an email for more information.

The Colony & Field Day invite you to celebrate the autumn harvest
at Volksfest 2013, Friday October 18th – 20th.

A three- day food and spirits gathering to benefit Urban Gleaners

PORTLAND, OR – October 18-20, 2013- The Colony in St. Johns will kick off a 3- Day autumn harvest festival in North Portland the weekend of October 18 to 20th, 2013. The event starts the evening of Friday, October 18th,from 5:00pm – 9:00pm with a Happy Hour Bar featuring Occidental Brewing & Union Wine Co. plus live-music around the Picker’s Bonfire Circle. Stick around and shake off the evening’s chill as DJs lay down beats in The Colony Ballroom until midnight.

Saturday, October 19th, will begin at 11:00 am under the heated Party Place Harvest Tent, with Tastebud’s fresh bagels and warm mulled cider from The Colony Bar. Family Fun is featured mid-day with a Pumpkin Carving Contest starting at 12 noon with judging at 3:00 pm. Fantastic food is the order of the day with Tastebud’s crisp garden salads and famous pizza’s from their wood-fired oven and flame-broiled burgers from the Kuza Burger Kart plus Portland’s favorite, Salt & Straw ice cream, will be scooping from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

There will be live music Saturday afternoon under the tent’s Hay Bale Stage and on the Colony’s Ballroom Dance Floor throughout the night with sets from 10 bands: Bad Assets, Power of County, The Darlin’ Brothers, Trask River Redemption, The Gam, Damn Family, East Coast Dave, The Redeemed & Sing Sing Kill.

On Sunday, October 20th, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm it’s Field Day Feast’s Griddle Cake & Sausage Breakfast, featuring the Hot Monkey Bloody Mary Bar sponsored by New Deal Distillery. A percentage of bar sales will be going to our friends at Urban Gleaners. Urban Gleaners helps alleviate hunger by collecting edible, surplus food and distributing it to agencies that feed the hungry.

Family Fun continues Sunday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm with the Scariest Scarecrow Building Contest where imaginations run wild to keep those Halloween ghosts away.

Giving: In the spirit of harvesting the last of the season’s bounty, we are reaching out to the community to bring their excess produce from their gardens (plus any canned goods) to The Colony throughout the weekend to benefit Urban Gleaners.

DOC is pleased to feature “Ice Cube Tray” (2008) by Isaac Layman, on loan to our dining room this summer from Portland’s Elizabeth Leach Gallery. One of Seattle’s most respected artists, Layman is known for constructing large-scale, psychologically charged, photographic-based visions of the spaces and objects found in his Seattle home. His highly anticipated first solo museum exhibition was hosted earlier this year at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. Layman’s work has earned reviews on National Public Radio and in leading journals, including Artweek and Art in America. His objects are included in the collections of the Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington; the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, Miami; the Monsen Collection of Photography, Seattle; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and others.
